We all remember our first day at secondary school. We were scared, excited, daunted, worried and many more emotions too numerous to mention. Here at Heath Park our unique ‘school within a school’ key stage 3 setting allows Year 7 and 8 pupils the time and space to develop both academically and personally before moving into a wider setting.

Key Stage 3 involves a committed and enthusiastic group of cross-curricular specialists who are dedicated to providing experiential learning opportunities for every child in their care. Teachers have high expectations of pupils’ progress and provide a supportive and encouraging framework in which pupils can meet their true potential.

Our staff work under an ethos of team work and collaboration with regards to planning schemes of work and team teaching. The department meet weekly to discuss issues relating to the department and its pupils. In addition to this, planning and preparation time is spent together, refining and reflecting upon practise.

Pupils in Key Stage 3 are encouraged to above all learn how to learn through an innovative, exciting and flexible approach with a dedicated and motivated staff who work together as a team in order that each child meets their potential academically, emotionally and socially.
