Heath Park’s Business Society members were model mentors during their ‘Money Matters’ workshops at Trinity C of E Primary School last month.
The programme was designed to get students thinking about their own ‘Life Path’ with a focus on entrepreneurship, finance and personal budgeting. Thus enabling the participant to foster a respect and appreciation of how money can work for you.
All members helped to deliver the 4 week programme on a weekly rotation. Half a dozen Year 6 pupils attended the after school sessions giving their time and energy to the societies new initiative.
With encouragement and guidance from lead staff member Miss Smith-Brown, the Business Society members who are a mixture of Year 7, 8 and 10 students, were positively received.
Mr Perrin a member of staff at Trinity C of E Primary said, “The Business Society students displayed maturity and leadership in the sessions, we would definitely have them back again!”
Overall the programme was a complete success. The added advantage was that it helped to encourage higher aspirations and self-belief.
Next year the Society will be developing on this experience and engaging in further initiatives in order to expand the horizons of the Business Society.
