Business Society Members Compete in the CIPFA Management Games
On Wednesday 20th June, Year 12 Business Society members represented Heath Park School at The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy management games at Birmingham University.
The team included De’Lacey Watson, Gytis Paulauskas, Gurpreet Singh, Paris Glasford, Armend Tura, Priya Memmi and Aneil Bhatia. The students each took on the role of part of the Board of Directors and were tasked with planning the economic regeneration of a fictitious city. They presented their proposal as a written report and a formal presentation to a panel of financial directors who work for Birmingham City Council.
The students experienced an insight into the world of public finance and a real understanding of how managers can face daily pressure of making key decisions under tight timescales and fierce opposition. Paris Glasford also won special recognition for her contribution during the day and was awarded with a certificate and voucher. The Business Society members thoroughly enjoyed the visit and it has inspired them to pursue careers in the Finance and Accounting industry.
