Drama Students Theatre Visit
Year 11 GCSE Drama students were given the opportunity to attend the Wolverhampton Grand on Thursday 7th November to watch a live performance of “Taste of Honey”. This is in preparation for their Component 3 – Theatre Makers exam (40%), in particular Section B – Live Theatre responding as audience member to live theatre.
The pupils studying Eduqas GCSE Drama enjoyed watching Taste of Honey which explores a British teen Jo as she struggles to find love in her bleak day-to-day life, which is dominated by her alcoholic mother, Helen. Jo has a brief relationship with a sailor and Helen takes up with a new husband, their already tense relationship is further strained. Jo faces more complications as she discovers she is pregnant, but finds support when she moves in with an odd but thoughtful student named Geoffrey.
The Y11 students from Heath Park behaved exceptionally and were ambassadors to the school. Ms Thomas said “It is always lovely to see young people engaged in the theatre and the group that watched Taste of Honey have certainly proved that, through the focus and attention they pay to their studies, we are very proud of them.”
A big thank you to parents and guardian’s for your continued support.
Best Wishes,
Miss A Thomas
