Usman Jimoh Signs for Aston Villa FC
We are extremely proud of Usman Jimoh (year 7) who has recently signed for Aston Villa Football Club and is now part of their fantastic academy. He is an extremely talented individual who has represented Heath Park in various sports and has even played an integral role in helping the Year 8 football team win Division 1. He is very hardworking and dedicated to both his academic studies and his sport. We are excited to see what the future holds for Usman and wish him every success moving forwards in his career.
A huge congratulations to the year 9 boys for winning the Indoor Athletics competition at WV Active Aldersley. They competed against all other secondary schools in Wolverhampton, coming out on top across multiple events. The boys have now qualified for the West Midland Finals in May. Well Done and Good Luck Lads!
Unified Football
We took a group of students to a Unified Football event at WV Active Aldersley. The students had a fantastic afternoon scoring plenty of goals. They improved massively from the first game through to the last game, showing great resilience along the way. Well done to all students involved!
KS2 Play Leaders Training Event
On Tuesday 24th October we took our Year 9 sports leaders to support a playleaders training event for primary pupils in years 5/6. Playleaders is leadership training for primary pupils so they can go back into their schools and lead lunchtime activities.
Our students helped to run events throughout the day including invasion, net/wall, creativity and communication games. They showed fantastic leadership and communication skills. They quickly built great rapports with the young pupils, evidenced by the increased levels of engagement and huge smiles on their faces.
Our Y9 leaders received some great feedback, with staff describing them as ‘Amazing’ and ‘A huge credit to the school’. It was a fantastic day and all students involved should be very proud of themselves, because we sure are! Well done!
Heath Park Sports Day 23
On Friday 14th July we hosted our annual Sports Day at Aldersley Stadium. It was a fantastic day with our students showing amazing resilience especially considering the adverse weather conditions. Thank you to all students, staff and 6th form sports leaders who supported on the day.
Wolverhampton School Sports Awards Evening 2023
On Monday 10th July, Heath Park attended the ConnectEd Partnership SSAW Awards Evening at the Grand Station Wolverhampton. It was a fantastic evening rounding up a very successful year for our sports students this year. Thank you to the students who attended the evening as representatives for each team. Heath Park students collected awards for the following:

- Year 7/8 boys volleyball winners
- Year 9 Boys and Girls indoor athletics champions (also winning the BCSG making them the best in the Black Country)

Professional Boxer and Olympian Ben Whittaker visits Heath Park School
On Friday 6th October Ben Whittaker, professional boxer and Olympian gave an inspiring and honest speech to some of our Y7-12 HP students. Ben then answered an array of questions from the engaged audience, elaborating on his journey, his training regime, what it takes to be a professional athlete, his ambitions and the challenges he faces in his career. Ben was more than happy to pose for pictures with our students, which they obviously took advantage of. His honesty hit home with some of our students who could really relate to his life choices.
Black Country Partnership Games
On Thursday 28th Septemeber 2023 11 Heath Park Students had the opportunity to participate in the Black Country Partnership Games. Throughout the day, they experienced and developered their knoledge in a range of sports. This includes Tai Chi, Archery, Circus Skils, Tennis, Cricket, Boxing, Dance and Gaelic Football. All pupils behaved exceptionally and were a credit to the school.
Heath Park PE department were commended for their hard work and dedication to and won the ‘Extra Mile Award‘ in the opportunities our students are offered.

Wimbledon Trip 2023
On Friday 7th July, Miss Harvey and Miss Mitchell took 8 students to Wimbledon. They were fortunate enough to have tickets for court 1 and were able to watch some elite tennis including performances from the WTA number 2 A. Sabalenka and GB’s own C. Norrie!
The students also developed their tennis knowledge by visiting the Wimbledon Museum. Their conduct was amazing and their enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. A brilliant day all round.
National Sports Week
Heath Park students enjoyed a fun filled National Sports week taking part in an interform obstacle course, kabaddi and tug of war competition. This formed part of the students #Pledgetoplay initiative further promoting the physical, mental and social benefits of physical activity.
Unified Cricket
We took a group of enthusiastic year 7 and 8 students to a unified event at Wolverhampton Cricket Club. They competed against a number of schools and came second overall in the tournament, narrowly losing out on the last ball. The students made excellent progress in their cricket skills as well as developing their confidence and teamwork throughout the day. It was a fantastic day and all students involved were a credit to the school.
JR NBA Finals
Massive congratulations to the year 7 Jr NBA team. They attended the Jr NBA finals in Birmingham on Wednesday 14 th June. This is a competition that includes schools across the West Midlands and is fiercely contested every year. The boys went through the qualifying rounds undefeated and topped their conference league. The team finished 2nd overall out of 33 schools across the West Midlands.
This is an amazing achievement and we are extremely proud of their efforts and dedication throughout the season. The boys are pictured below with 2022 commonwealth games 3×3 gold medallist
Heath Park win GOLD in the School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that Heath Park School has achieved the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our sporting achievements this year include: Y8 Boys Football Div 1 winners, Y7/8 Boys and Girls City Dodgeball Winners, Y8 boys Volleyball Winners, Y8 indoor athletics boys winners, Y9 indoor athletics boys and girls winners, Y7 Jnr NBA League Winners, Y9/10 Girls basketball league Winners, a range of medals in Gymnastics, trips to the Women’s FA cup final, Wimbledon, BBL Final, Worcester University netball and basketball trip, entrance into all Unified events, an array of KS3-5 leadership opportunities and Aspire to HE events.
With a total of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.
A special thanks to our amazing Heath Park students who have shown commitment, desire and motivation to partake in our sports provision. The PE team who have shown hardwork and dedication to provide our Heath Park students with the best opportunities and help make lifetime memories through sport.

Heath Park Gold SGM 2023 Award
Black Country Games Success!
The Black Country School Games represents the pinnacle of all intra and inter school competition in the Black Country. The ethos of the Black Country School Games delivery is “Competition and activities for young people, shaped, delivered and supported by young people’’
Heath Park school qualified for the Level 3 Athletics Championships and we are incredibly proud to say both our Year 9 girls and boys team brought home the gold medals! This is a fantastic achievement, beating 123 other secondary schools!
We also need to shout out our fantastic 6th form leaders who helped run the event. They were incredibly professional throughout, and we are very thankful!
Future of Football Aspire to HE Event
Throughout the day, they took part in a range of exciting activities including Speed and Agility in football, Performance analysis in Football, Analysis and data of a penalty and Exertion and effort levels in football. Students were a credit to the school and were grateful for this opportunity.
WOMEN’S FA CUP FINAL AT WEMBLEY
On Sunday 14th May 2023 our Heath Park students were given a fantastic opportunity to watch the Women’s FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Chelsea at Wembley stadium in London.
A competitive game alongside a record-breaking attendance, made for a thrilling atmosphere. The students were an absolute pleasure to take and a real credit to the school.
Girls Biggest Football Day
As part of the #Letgirlsplay movement, we took a aroup of year 7 and 8 girls to take part in the girls biggest football day at Aldersley Leisure Village.
The girls had an amazing day and took part in 4 different activities, Goalkeeping, panna, futsal and skills challenges. One of our students did so well at the skills challenge for passing that she won the challenge for the day.
Our students had a fantastic day and it was a great celebration of womens sport!
British Basketball Finals 2023
On Sunday 29th January we took a group of students to watch the British Basketball Cup Finals at The Utilita Arena Birmingham. Our students saw the two top teams from the elite men’s and women’s British Basketball League battle it out for what is one of the most prestigious trophies on offer in the sport. We saw
The London Lions became the first team to win both the men’s and women’s cup finals in a single event with victories over the Leicester Riders.
It was a fantastic opportunity to see elite sport and the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They had the opportunity to watch a slam dunk competition, see Notes perform at half time and even speak to Shaniqua from BBC Newsround and share their thoughts and experiences of the sport.

Unified Volleyball
Our Y7/8 students had the opportunity to attend a Unified Volleyball event. We took some enthusiastic students who completed mini sessions focusing on skill development and movement around the court followed by some fun competitions.
The students really enjoyed it and were a credit to Heath Park.
SSAW Sports Awards Evening 2022
Heath Park PE staff and students attended the ConnectEd Partnership Sports 21-22 City Awards evening. This event was held at the Grandstation on Monday 4th July. All secondary schools in Wolverhampton were invited to receive trophies for their success in sports throughout the year.
Heath Park students won an array of trophies including indoor athletics, dodgeball, football and basketball.
Our students were thrilled to win two out of the three city individual awards, receiving the Student of the year and Most improved athlete in the city!
The evening was topped off with the Heath Park School winning the UNITY AWARD, which was recognition of the dedication the PE department have shown in ensuring a whole school approach which is inclusive and engaging for all.

WORLD CUP SHOWCASE
Heath Park students were given the opportunity to watch the England vs Iran FIFA World Cup football match in the lecture theatre, plaza, canteen or classrooms. Students were treated to an entertaining 6-2 England victory. Their attitude and conduct during the match was exemplary and students will certainly remember this experience!

ENGLAND V BELGIUM
On Thursday the 16th June, we took a group of 27 students to the Molineux to watch a friendly match between England Women and Belgium Women. The game was a great spectacle with England winning 3–0 and all the goals coming the the 2nd half. The students had an amazing time and represented the school impeccably.
HP BATON BEARERS
On Friday 10th July our HP students were baton bearers for the Wolverhampton City Games. We received the baton from Trinity Primary who put on a fantastic music and dance performance. Our students represented Cook Islands and transferred the baton to Wodensfield Primary where they received a fantastic reception.
Wimbledon Rewards Trip
On Wednesday 6th July we were lucky enough to take 8 student on a PE rewards trip to Wimbledon. These students have consistently gone above and beyond for the PE Department this year, volunteering and representing the school in an array of different sporting events.
Tyler Russell, Shai Sanderson, Harmony Burrell, Darcey Coates, Victoria Corbett, Indejah Allen-Hall, Daniel McCambley and Maisie Bennett have shown dedication to the PE department and role models in upholding the schools core values.
The students had tickets to court 2 and were able to watch the Men’s doubles quarter final which went all the way to the 5th set with the British player coming out on top. They also watched the Womens doubles quarter final, and a legends invitation game. The atmosphere was great all the way through, with the students getting to experience all the ups and downs of tennis.
Not only did the students get to watch some brilliant tennis. They also got to fully enjoy the grounds of Wimbledon. They went on a tour of the museum, had some of the famous strawberries and cream and two of the students even got to meet a tennis legend.
Shai and Tyler (Year 7) plucked up the courage to go courtside, where they were lucky enough to get their tennis balls signed by British tennis legend Greg Rusedski.

National School Sports week:
Central Sixth Students Aspire to HE!
A group of Central Sixth students attended an aspire to higher education event hosted by the University of Wolverhampton. The day consisted of a series of workshops, practical sessions and discussions that exposed out students to some key themes linked to sport business management. They had the opportunity to hear first-hand from industry professionals about what it takes to succeed in careers linked to sport business management.
The had a lot of fun creating and manging their own disability in sport events. Their engagement and effort throughout the day was fantastic!
Aspire to HE Step into Physiotherapy
Our BTEC Sport Level 3 students had the opportunity to explore the exciting world of Physiotherapy hosted by the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing at Wolverhampton University.
The day was made up of workshops that gave our students the chance to explore physiotherapy, find out about university courses and what to expect when choosing a career as a physiotherapist.
They had a lot of fun engaging in an interactive sample teaching session, using some of the latest technology in the industry.
Swimming Life-saving exercise
Some of our pupils had the opportunity to develop their lifesaving skills during their PE lessons this term at Bentley Bridge swimming baths. They learnt about drowning prevention, water safety and practised poolside rescues. They were a credit to Heath Park School. Well done!
Women’s fa cup final – Wembley trip Arsenal vs Chelsea
On Sunday 5th December we took 28 students to Wembley stadium to watch the women’s fa cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea. The students had an amazing experience and really loved the opportunity to watch live sport. They all said that they cannot wait for the next opportunity and would love to go again. The students were a credit to the school the whole trip.
Boxing Olympian and the Mayor of Wolverhampton visit Heath Park
We welcomed Olympic Silver medalist Ben Whittaker and the Mayor of Wolverhampton to Heath Park on Thursday 24th March. Some of our future stars were treated to lunch and Q+A session, where they gained invaluable advice on how to reach the top. Students were also involved in a boxing workshop, receiving some fantastic technical tips and motivation!

Our aim is to give girls equal access to football and this day will celebrate the fantastic talent and opportunities we have at Heath Park for girls football.
GIFTED AND TALENTED Y9 & 10 KARATE TRIP
Recently our Year 9 and Year 10 Gifted and Talented were fortunate to attend a Karate club during their PE lesson. Many of the students gained an insight into a new sport and got a taste of what Karate is all about. It was an action-packed session, with students learning lots of different skills in a short space of time!
It was great to see the students out of their comfort zone, enjoying this themselves.

Another amazing turn out with 13 aspiring goalkeepers attending Mr Cassell’s goalkeeping club. Their dedication and commitment to develop skills within extracurricular clubs is outstanding.

Wolverhampton City Athletics ChampionShips
On the 7th September 2023 we took 40 students to the city athletics championships to represent the school. This championships is open to all of the schools in Wolverhampton and offers both track and field events. The students were phenomenal both on and off the track. In total we won 15 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 7 bronze medals. This is an amazing achievement, and we are incredibly proud of all of the students.
Year 7 boys and year 8 boys also won the overall trophy for their age category. This makes them the best athletics team for their age in the city.
A huge congratulations to all of the students!
Year 9 and 10 Cricket Champions!
The Year 9 and 10 Cricket team sealed the league title this week with wins over Moseley Park and Moreton. These wins ensured that the boys capped off an impressive season, winning 5 out of 5 games! Attentions will now turn to the City final. Good luck lads!
Joel Jackson – Jujitsu World Champion
Heath Parks Joel Jackson has had an outstanding year in Jujitsu. Joel’s recent accolades include:
- Gold medal at the Junior World Championships
- Gold medal in the last two Junior European Championships
- Gold at the last two Junior National Championships.
His performances have resulted in him being ranked number one in the world for his age category.
Joel is incredibly committed to the discipline of his sport, at times training five times a week. In addition, Joel kindly shares his Jujitsu expertise by coaching some of his peers, helping to improve their skills and fitness to maximise their results at competitions. The fact that he manages to juggle all of this with such a packed training schedule and the demands of being a year 10 student makes this all the more impressive. We are incredibly proud of Joel and all his sporting accomplishments and wish him the best of luck in his training and future competitions!
Y7/8 Girls Basketball League Winners!
Our Y7/8 girls played a competitive basketball finals game on Monday 3rd July against Colton Hills Community School. Both teams played with passion and determination, but Heath Park prevailed 14-4.
They are now the Wolverhampton City 2022-23 league winners!

Y8 Indoor Atheltics Champions
Our Y8 Boys achieved GOLD in the City Indoor Athletics Championships. They are officially the best indoor athletics team within Wolverhampton. Their amazing athleticism, technical ability and physical prowess helped them achieve this prestigious award. A fantastic group of students who are a credit to Heath Park.

This week we took our Y7/8 dodgeball teams to the city competition, and we are celebrating their successes. Our boys did really well, coming second in the tournament. And our girls team smashed it, winning the competition and qualifying for the Black Country Games. Well done all, we are very proud!

Y7+8 Unified Football Event
A group of year 7/8 students attended a unified football tournament at WV Active Aldersley. It was a fantastic opportunity for students who don’t always get the opportunity to participate in competitive sport. They all had a fantastic day and were an absolute credit to the school with their conduct and effort levels. Both teams performed exceptionally well, coming back with bronze and silver medals. Well done boys!
Wolverhampton basketball competition
A group of year 9/10 students took part in the Wolverhampton basketball competition. They did very well winning 7 out of 8 games and came away with a bronze medal. A great individual accomplishment from Spas Petelov, who was awarded defensive player of the tournament.

Y7/8 Dodgeball
We are celebrating both our Y7/8 boys and girls dodgeball teams being selected to represent Wolverhampton City at the Active Black Country Games! This is where the best teams from Walsall, Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Dudley compete for the trophy. Our very own Tanveer Kaur was interviewed by the Express and Star on the day.
“Tanveer Kaur, 13, was among a 16-strong team from Heath Park School, in Prestwood Road, Wolverhampton. She said: “We’re having a lot of fun. I didn’t expect there to be so many other schools here. We’re the winners of the Wolverhampton School Games dodgeball competition and we’re pretty confident that we will win here as well.“”
Our students did Heath Park and Wolverhampton proud! The girls team walked away with silver medals! Well done!!

We took a group of enthusiastic year 7 and 8 students to a unified event at Fordhouses Cricket Club. They competed against a number of schools and came second overall in the tournament, narrowly falling short by runs scored. The students conducted themselves so well all afternoon and really enjoyed the whole experience. In addition to this we also took four year 9 and 10 sports leaders to support with the event, and they received amazing feedback from the coaches there. It was fantastic day and all students involved were a credit to the school.
Jr NBA Finals
The year 7 Jr NBA team have had an amazing opening season this year. They went undefeated throughout the regular season and the play offs. They made it all the way to the midlands finals.
They were extremely unlucky to lose the finals 11–9 after a really close game. The boys have represented the school brilliantly and we are very proud of them. We are all looking forward to what next season will bring!
Y7/8 Cricket Festival
On Wednesday 8th June some of our year 7 and 8 students were involved in a cricket festival hosted by University of Wolverhampton. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their skills and cricket knowledge through various drills and fun activities. The students were a credit to the school and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Congratulations to the Heath Park Gymnasts!
In April our Heath Park gymnasts competed in the Wolverhampton City competition. The girls displayed excellent skill proficiency and discipline. They truly did us proud, bringing home 12 medals across the three categories! Amazing!

Central Sixth Sports Tournament
On Friday 8th April we hosted the Central Sixth Sports Tournament, and it was a huge success! The students’ attitude was exceptional across all activities (football, dodgeball and basketball). There was some fantastic talent on show and games were played in the right spirit, whilst remaining competitive. It was great to see all the schools come together at the end to congratulate one another.
There were over 75 Year 12 and 13 students involved. Their impeccable manners and gratitude made them a credit to all three schools, and we look forward to future competitions.

Y9 Sports Leadership – Primary Mini Pentathlon
On Friday 19th January 2024 we took our Heath Park Y9 Sports Leaders to Aldersley Leisure Village to help lead the Wolverhampton City KS1 Mini Pentathlon. Our leaders excelled in connecting with the young pupils, staff and the broader community. Their brilliance shined through in their ability to adapt to ever-changing circumstances, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth.
It was fantastic to see the high activity levels of the young pupils and the joy on their faces. Our leaders were a real credit to Heath Park.
Primary Indoor Athletics
21 of our excellent Sports Leaders hosted the Primary Indoor Athletics competition. Leaders from year 9 to 13 organised six different athletics events to over 50 year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools. Our leaders were praised from parents and primary staff alike on their conduct, enthusiasm, and how welcoming they were to the primary pupils. Congratulations to all of our leaders involved, you were fantastic!
Sports Leaders KS2 Event
FA Young Leaders Qualification
Some of our Y9 and 10 girls had an amazing opportunity to meet Tottenham FC footballer Kerys Harrop, who holds the record for the most WSL appearances. They engaged in a careers workshop following by a football coaching session. The girls were thrilled with this once in a lifetime experience meeting their role model and were a credit to the school in the way they conducted themselves. We look forward to seeing our HP girl’s breakdown barriers to fulfil a career in sport.
Year 9 KS2 Leadership Event
Our Year 9’s did a wonderful job of leading a KS2 volleyball and dodgeball activity day. They were great role models and delivered practices with confidence and enthusiasm. Our students received fantastic feedback on their ability to motivate and engage the young participants.

Girl’s Football Week
KS2 Multi-sport Event
On Tuesday 24th January our KS4 leaders did an amazing job of running a KS2 multi-sports event for our local primary schools. Their professionalism, organisation and enthusiasm created a wonderfully active and fun environment for everyone.
Y10 SEN Leadership
Some of our Y10 leaders had a fantastic opportunity to support and lead a KS1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Mini Pentathlon event on Friday 20th January at Ashmore Park. Our leaders were amazing, working closely with the pupils to give them a fun and memorable experience.
KS4 Leadership: KS2 Indoor Athletics Finals!
On Thursday 8th December our KS4 leaders led the Wolverhampton City KS2 indoor athletics finals.
We had some amazing feedback from the organisers, the teachers, and parents. They commented on how engaging, encouraging and professional our leaders were. They did a phenomenal job and were a real credit to Heath Park!

Aspire to Higher Education – Leadership Discovery Programme
On Thursday 1st December, we took a group of year 12 students to an aspire to higher education workshop at the University of Wolverhampton. The workshop focused on developing leadership skills and looking at different jobs involved in sports leadership.
The students had the opportunity to take part in various sessions delivered by lecturers and current students at the university. Our students had a brilliant day and learnt a lot of new things which could help guide and direct their futures.
KS4 Leadership!
Our fantastic KS4 leaders led a KS2 sports hall indoor athletics competition. It was great to see them motivating, educating and inspiring the young pupils.

KS2 Leadership Day
We took a group of young leaders from year 9 to a KS2 festival at Wolverhampton lawn tennis and squash club. The group of leaders spent the day with 2 groups of KS2 pupils from 10 schools around the city. The leaders represented the school impeccably. They motivated and encouraged all of the students to try their hardest while teaching them new skills at the same time. The students demonstrated all the skills it takes to be a good leader; confidence, empathy and great communication skills.
We are very proud of them all!

Heath Park Leadership Award 2022
Our year 8 students had a successful year in Core PE with all 199 students achieving the Leadership Award!
As part of the course the students planned and led, fun and engaging activities. Our sports leaders developed and now possess the characteristics they want to see in others, such as confidence, discipline and self-control whilst showcasing a positive attitude. Well done Year 8!
