Sporty Students ‘Sweat It Out’ In Sponsored Circuit Training

On Thursday 15th February, Heath Park were visited by Leon Baptiste, a double Commonwealth Gold Medalist.

Leon won gold in both the 200m and 4x100m relay in Deli, India 2010 Commonwealth Games. As part of the morning session the whole of Year 7 & 8 students had a wonderful time, ‘sweating it out’ in a sponsored circuit training session led by Leon himself.

Year 9 BTEC Sport students who also took part in the circuits, had the fantastic experience of having an inspirational talk followed by a Q&A session where they got to ask him about a range of questions about his professional sporting career.

As a school we would like to thank all those who supported by sponsoring the event helping to raise an amazing £800. A special ‘shout out’ to Kyle Sandland who individually raised the greatest amount of sponsors – £53.50. Part of the money raised will help Leon in his quest to progress his boxing career having had to give up athletics due to injury and his coaching role with British Athletics to develop our future Olympians. Once again thank you to everyone involved in the session and we wish Leon best of luck in his future endeavors.
