Year 9 Excellence Academy Visit to Aston University
On February 26th, a group of Excellence Academy students from Heath Park had the opportunity to visit Aston University for a Campus Day.
Forty students visited Aston, having the opportunity to meet some current undergraduates, take part in workshops around their future choices.
The students learned a great deal about what it will take to achieve a place at a university, and left with advice and guidance about what they will have to do to make it a reality over the next few years. They will reflect upon this back at school and be ambassadors for the rest of the year group as they all begin to turn their attentions to future plans and goals.
Excellence Academy students at Heath Park have the opportunity to visit a number of the country’s top universities during their time at the school, as part of a strategy to continue to raise the aspirations of our students. We have an increasing number of students both applying to and gaining places in Russell Group universities, a testament to links built with a range of higher education institutions across Britain. This year we have had the success of Danny Williams-Ruiz taking up a place at Cambridge University, as well as two successful Oxford applications in the current Year 13 group.
Heath Park students have every opportunity to apply to these top universities, and we are very proud of all that our Excellence Academy students have achieved in recent years.
