At Heath Park, we are committed to providing an ambitious, inclusive, and broad curriculum that reflects the needs and aspirations of our diverse community. Our curriculum spans from Year 7 to Year 13, with a specific focus on creating a solid foundation for success beyond the classroom.
Our Key Principles:
1. Ambitious Learning: Our curriculum is designed to be ambitious, fostering a love for learning and encouraging intellectual curiosity. We aim to challenge and inspire our students to achieve their full potential.
2. Broad and Balanced: To provide a well-rounded education, our curriculum offers a balance between core subjects and a wide range of foundation subjects. This approach encourages students to explore various disciplines and discover their interests and passions.
3. Inclusive Education: We believe in the strength of diversity. Our inclusive curriculum embraces and celebrates the unique talents and backgrounds of all our students, ensuring that each pupil feels valued and supported throughout their educational journey. Every pupil at Heath Park remains firmly in focus at all time.
4. Community-Centric Approach: We recognise the importance of reflecting the needs of our community in our curriculum. By engaging with local stakeholders, we continuously adapt our offer to ensure relevance and cultural responsiveness.
Key Stages at Heath Park:
Year 7 and Year 8: The foundation of our curriculum focuses on developing essential skills and knowledge. Students engage in a diverse range of subjects to build a strong academic base which is in line with National Curriculum expectations. At the end of year 8, our pupils choose which subjects they will be studying from year 9 to year 11 through our options process.
Years 9-11 (GCSEs): Our curriculum at this stage is designed to be both challenging and flexible, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests and career aspirations. We encourage all pupils to study a blend of academic and vocational subjects to cater to a variety of pathways. In our KS4, our pupils sequentially build the key essential knowledge required over time that enables them to be successful.
Central Sixth: Our Sixth Form is a dedicated space where students from Heath Park School, Moseley Park School, and Coppice Performing Arts School converge to pursue advanced studies. This
collaborative environment encourages the sharing of ideas and fosters a sense of community among our students.
Beyond the classroom, we offer a rich tapestry of extracurricular activities, ensuring that our students develop not only academically but also socially and emotionally. From sports to arts, community service to leadership programs, there are ample opportunities for personal growth and skill development.
In summary, our curriculum at Heath Park is more than just a set of subjects; it is a pathway to success, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students and community. We are dedicated to fostering a love for learning, empowering our students to become lifelong learners, and preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
