End of Summer Term 2023

Dear Parent/Carer

As we come to the end of a particularly challenging year within education, we reflect with pride how the Heath Park school community has responded. Once again, we thank you for your ongoing support for the school to ensure learning has remained at the heart of our provision, despite the national turbulence within our sector. The biggest barrier to progress is attendance and we are pleased to say our whole school attendance figure has remained over two percent above the national average; your support in encouraging high attendance is much appreciated. Our target for all students is 96% as this provides the strongest foundation for future success.

  • Wednesday 19thActivities Day: Students have signed up for a range of activities across the day, on-site and in the local Could we please ask that all payments are made by the start of the week through ParentPay. Students are able to wear their own clothes on this day.
  • Thursday 20thCelebration of Culture. Students will participate in a range of learning opportunities that aim to celebrate the wonderful range of cultures and diversity we are so proud of at Heath Park. Students are invited to attend in clothing which reflects their identity.

CELEBRATING SUCCESS

We continue to have so much to be proud of across our school community, from outstanding work and progress, a wide range of sporting and arts events, to confident young leaders who have supported a range of charity organisations and community projects. Our work with external agencies continues to go from strength to strength which supports our ambitions to provide a cultural capital through experiences that support personal development.

REPORTS

End-of-year reports have been issued to parents and carers.  A letter has been issued along with guidance for access to Go4Schools. Please contact your child’s Progress Leader with any queries or concerns.

CONTACT DETAILS

Please ensure that any changes to contact details, including email addresses are shared with reception or via your child’s form tutor. We communicate regularly via email and text so such details need to be up to date.

UNIFORM

Our expectations of uniforms are very high and support both the purpose of learning and the sense of community. Details of the uniform are found on the website and we expect all students to adhere to this. When returning in September we will expect all students to display the highest standards of dress, taking pride in the uniform they wear. This promotes our clear values for all to see both within the school and the wider community. We appreciate your support in reinforcing our expectations from the outset. Our uniform expectations are enforced and include the following:

  • Heath Park blazer and tie
  • Black leather shoes that can be polished
  • School trousers (not leggings, jeggings or other materials that are not trousers)
  • Skirts to be tailored and knee length (no stretchy material)
  • Ear piercings to be studs (no hoops or drop earrings)
  • No facial piercings or jewellery of any kind
  • Nails should be appropriate length for school
  • Full Heath Park PE kit on timetabled days

We are very grateful to those families that are able to donate unwanted or outgrown items of uniform. Please contact reception if you are able to support with this.

Scholarly Behaviours

We always strive for excellence in all aspects of school life. Our scholarly expectations remain high to ensure all students achieve success. We continue to appreciate your support in:

  • Ensuring your child meets the minimum expectation of 96% attendance throughout the year
  • Punctuality – students to be on site by 8.45am
  • Adhering to uniform expectations as detailed
  • Being equipped to learn in school and supporting home learning being part of the daily routine
  • Encouraging your child to make positive choices. Students will be rewarded for their hard work and engaging attitude in school. Sanctions will be put in place when such expectations are not met. Learning must not be affected by poor behaviour
  • Mobile phones and airpods/headphone are only to be used at social times in the dining areas and outside only. We will remove phones if they are used in areas of the school or if they disrupt learning. Your support with this is much appreciated.

Family Support

A wide range of services are available to support families during the holiday through the local authority and local businesses. Please see the school website for further details and updates in the coming week.

We wish you and your families a safe and relaxing summer break and we look forward to welcoming back all students in the new academic year to continue to build the success our students so richly deserve.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Holloway
