Festival of Literature Y7 – Protest and Book Illustrations
As part of our celebration for World Book Day, we are taking part in the Festival of Literature. On Tuesday, Y7 took part in a session by author and illustrator Emily Haworth-Booth. Emily talked to us about why she was so passionate about the history of protests and the process she goes through to illustrate books. She then led pupils through a session where they started to create comic panels for an issue they cared about.
Pupils really enjoyed thinking about the creative process involved and have started to create some graphic pages of their own. Check out their work below! They were really proud of it and so were we! It looks like we might have some future authors and illustrators in Y7!
Our Y7s said
We discovered what the group felt were problems, for example, litter, deforestation, plastic in the ocean, and stopping war. The group were very passionate and enjoyed being able to draw their ideas.
Sophie: “English today was creative and FUN!”
Dorette – “it was calming”
